Just like I reported Europe and Japan getting this bundle, North America is now getting the red Wii bundle that celebrates the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. The console comes packed with the new Wii-mote Plus, which has on-board Wii MotionPlus. Priced at US$199.99, the bundle also comes with Wii Sports, New Super Mario Bros. and a red Nunchuk.

Like with the European bundle, the game will not come with the special "hacked" version of the original Super Mario Bros. It also does not come with the original version of Donkey Kong that Europe is getting.

The bundle hits North America on November 7.
The tenth anniversary of the launch of the PlayStation 2 in North America is right around the corner, and the console still sells well enough to warrant a brand new Toy Story 3 bundle from Sony. The $99 Toy Story 3 PlayStation 2 bundle brings together the decade-old console with a copy of Disney Interactive's Toy Story 3 video game on October 31, two days before the smash hit movie hits DVD and Blu-ray. With the holidays coming, it's an excellent opportunity for Sony to grab a few more PS2 sales for parents not willing or able to spend the extra cash on one of today's fine video game consoles.

PlayStation 3 associate marketing manager Ami Sheth talks up the bundle today on the PlayStation Blog.

Nearly 10 years since it first launched, the PS2 continues to be a force in gaming and to date is in more than 146 million homes worldwide. At $99, the PS2 provides great entertainment value for new gamers and families with its built-in DVD player and a deep library of more than 2,000 games.

I'm not going to argue with Ami. I still regularly purchase and enjoy PlayStation 2 titles, and there are plenty of games on the console any kid would be perfectly happy to play.

The PlayStation 2 was released in North America on October 26, 2000.
It's not just the Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary game Europe is getting; the Old World may be in line to receive the new Red Wii as well, albeit with some changes made to the bundle. This box art surfaced over the weekend, and shows what looks to be the official packaging for a European edition of the red Wii bundle. It differs from the Japanese one, however, in that instead of including that special "hacked" version of Super Mario Bros., it instead includes the original Donkey Kong.

You'll also see on the box that while it only includes Wii Sports, it's also packing a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Slight disappointment to collectors after what will surely be a very rare version of the classic game, then, but if all you wanted was the red Wii and some great games to get you started, then everything is fine!

We're checking with Nintendo for confirmation on this bundle, and will update if we hear back.

UPDATE - Yup, it's official! It'll be out on October 29.
