According to IGN, an Activision spokesperson issued this statement to them explicitly stating,

"There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax."

The Gears of War 3 beta is now available to all Xbox Live Gold members, which includes three new multiplayer game modes and four maps.

Two of the maps are Stadium and Supermarket, and the other two have to be voted on at the Facebook page. The maps being voted on are Mercy, Old Town, Overpass and Trenches.

The Gears of War 3 beta had previously only been available to gamers who bought Bulletstorm.

1) The Batclaw Can Grab Items Now
In addition to tearing down walls and thugs' faces, the Batclaw can now be used to grab items. In the demonstration we saw, Batman grabbed a hidden Riddler Trophy from a distance because he was too lazy to walk over to it.

2) Batman Has Super Mario World's Cape
Much like Mario's yellow cape in his 16-bit debut, Batman can fly long distances by swooping down, catching wind, and gliding back up. We're told that you can fly through all of Arkham City without ever touching the ground.

3) There Are Smoke Bombs
Among Batman's inventory are Smoke Pellets, something that really should have been in the first game. In the demonstration we saw, Batman threw these down at his feet like a magician to "disappear" from the eyes of some of Joker's minions.

4) Catwoman and Two Face Have New Voice Actors
Fans of Batman: The Animated Series may be disappointed to hear that neither Richard "Bull from Night Court" Moll nor Adrienne "That Girl From The Fog" Barbeau will be reprising their roles as Two-Face and Catwoman, respectively. Interestingly, Barbeau was in Arkham Asylum, as one of the asylum physicians Batman rescues.

5) ...And So Does Harley Quinn
Surprisingly, Arleen Sorkin did not provide the voice for Harley Quinn in the demo we saw, despite being in Arkham Asylum. When pressed, we were given a stone cold "no comment" on whether this would be true in the final game. The actress we heard was a pretty good imitation, but obviously not the real thing.

6) Alfred Replaces Oracle
In Arkham Asylum, Batman was in constant radio contact with The Oracle, who was able to monitor his situation and provide remote help. In the demo we saw of Arkham City, this role was being fulfilled by Batman's faithful butler, Alfred.
7) Calendar Man Knows What Day It Is
Not only is series villain Calendar Man confirmed to be in the game, he's also got some unique dialog during most major holidays. Play the game on St. Patrick's Day, for example, and he'll tell you all about a murder he committed on that day in history.

8) Bad Guys Can Take Hostages
There was one scene in Arkham Asylum where Mr. Zsasz took one of the doctor's hostage, in a scripted event that forced players to batarang his face. In Arkham City, the average grunt can do this contextually, providing a new challenge for Batman: if the hostage dies, it's game over.

9) Forget Double Takedown, There's a Triple Now
Those of us who have kept up with Arkham City previews probably knew about Batman's ability to counter two bad guy sat the same time, but we can now confirm that there is a triple takedown too. We didn't get to see it, but we're told it's "awesome."

10) Weapons Are Highlighted in Detective Mode
Just like in Arkham Asylum, baddies holding guns appear red in Detective Mode. New to Arkham City, however, is that melee weapons are now clearly visible. It's easy to tell if a guy is holding a pipe, as that pipe will appear as a visually striking yellow.

Developer Eidos Montreal has posted a photograph of Thief 4 being playtested at the studio. It seems "Garrett" is wielding a bow in 3rd person.

Very little is known about Thief 4 as Eidos and Square Enix have kept quiet, but the rumors of Thief 4 have been strong and frequent. At least fans know to expect third-person views in the game, at least during archery.

The posted image of the playtest at Eidos Montreal was spotted by JeuxVideo(translated) where they mention a mixture of the third-person view is used when Garrett is travelling, climbing and using archery. This image at least proves it true for archery.

This just kicked off. A countdown website known as “findmakarov.com” has appeared online. Modern Warfare 3 season? Looks like it.

Countdown’s at under five days right now. In addition, TVGB received promotional dog tags from Activision which led to the site. It also contains information on MW2 character Shepard.

The tags proclaim “End the War”.

Sounds like a GDC reveal to us. Modern Warfare 2 was also first shown at the event two years ago.

A lot’s changed since that showing, though. Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired by Activision for “insubordination”, and have gone on to find Respawn Entertainment.

Both men as well as others are suing Activision for unseen royalties from MW2. Activision is also counter-suing Zampella, West and EA, who will distribute and publish the studio’s first game.

It’s rumoured that Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Raven Software are currently working on the game together.

Universal Studios was "done" with Bourne last year but now the studio has hired Tony Gilroy, a man with writing credits on the first three Bourne scripts, to write and direct a titled The Bourne Legacy.  Though the title is borrowed from one of the books in the Bourne series, The Bourne Legacy is a standalone project – wholly original story which does not feature the character Jason Bourne.

In the absence of Damon, Universal needs a strapping young man to put on the posters.  The studio has begun the search for the actor to play a new assassin character with a “similar background” to Bourne.  Gilroy has reportedly met with Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, and Kellan Lutz about assuming the mantle. It was also updated that Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, and Benjamin Walker have been added to the list of contenders.

Variety was unable to confirm the report with anyone from Universal, but their sources provide a few interesting details about the casting process:
  • No frontrunner has emerged.
  • Gilroy has an idea of the qualities he wants in his leading man, and hopes to submit all candidates to a screen test.  This may cost him a bigger name that prefers the wooing process.
  • Universal has their own ideas about who they want on that poster; it’s implied the studio’s vision doesn’t align perfectly with Gilroy’s.
  • The studio is likely to hold off on casting supporting roles until they’ve found their lead.
[Update Deadline's report on the matter added 9 more names to the list of candidates.  Such a broad and varied collection defies classification.  Well, not too varied: 13 of the 14 actors are white.  Thank god for the Cuban/Guatemalan Isaac.  But the ages range from Pettyfer (20) to Edgerton (36).

Deadline suggests Gilroy is in the process of narrowing the list, and that actor availability will be a limiting factor.  So expect another update on this story in the near future.]

No one is trying to replace Damon, as there’s hope he will reprise his role as Bourne for a fifth filmThe Wrap even suggests “many in [Damon's] camp fully expect to happen in the next year or so,” a statement that weights about as much as a feather.  The word on the street is that if Greengrass comes back, Damon will follow.  I imagine that came up when Universal agreed to make Greengrass’ next projectMemphis.

The Bourne Legacy is scheduled for release on August 3, 2012.

Set for 11/11/11 release.

According to Dice general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson,
"We do have other secret projects that I can't talk about right now."

Is it another Battlefield game? Bad Company 3 maybe? Crafting the multiplayer for Medal of Honor 2?

or Mirror's Edge 2? (yes we know of the rumor of it being cancelled by EA)
