Cliff Bleszinski has told people to look out for a new Epic game to be unveiled at GDC in February next year.

The Epic lead designer said that the new IP started off as his own idea but Prototype lead designer Eric Holmes has since been brought on board to take the wheel. Whether that gives us an indication of the type of game the project will become, we can't be certain.

Cliffy B sounds as enthusiastic as ever though:

"I believe game designers are the Stan Lees and Jack Kirbys of our day, and we're creating these universes that leave a huge impact on people," he told EGM.

"Gamers vote with their dollars and they often like established IP, but those IPs came from somewhere, right?"

"Call of Duty was crafted by the original Medal of Honor guys. Gears of War was crafted by the original Unreal Tournament guy. I look forward to creating what's next."

Epic's recently seen massive success with Infinity Blade, which became the fastest grossing app on the iPhone last Monday.

Next year's Gears of War 3 will (somehow) reward players of Shadow Complex, Unreal Tournament 3 and other already released games from the folks at Epic Games, according to the Xbox 360 game's designer. Gears of War man Cliff Bleszinski wrote on Twitter today that fans should "Look for special unlocks in Gears 3 for those of you who have played other Epic games such as Shadow Complex, UT3, Gears, and Bulletstorm," a teaser for next fall's entry in the third-person shooter series.

Of course, those "unlocks" could be anything from Xbox 360 Avatar items to multiplayer skins to weapons lifted from the arsenals of those gun-heavy games. We're keeping our expectations calmly in check, but really hope that Epic goes big with those unlocks. Any better suggestions?
