{posted by Will} Are you interested in hearing what Double Fine has to say about sequels to games like Brutal Legend, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and more? We've got the skinny on what games the developer would love to make sequels for, and the ones they couldn't make follow ups for if they wanted to. The info comes from a recent post on the FAQ section of Double Fine's website. In response to the burning question of impending Psychonauts or Brütal Legend sequels, Double Fine said, "Not right now, but we’d love to someday. If anyone out there has a few million dollars burning a hole in their pocket, and would like to help us make an excellent sequel, please let us know" You've probably heard of the previous two games, but you may not know about other favorites fans want sequels for. Regarding development on sequels for Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and Day of the Tentacle, Double Fine said, "That would be fun, but we don’t own the rights to any of those games, so we can’t. Instead, we have to make up our own new stuff. Which is awesome." We can deal with Tim Schafer and company focusing on making awesome new titles. Keep the good times rolling, Double Fine. {Source: GameInformer} My Toughts: PLEASE, SOMEONE, GIVE THEM THE MONEY FOR PSYCHONAUTS 2! It turns out those sneaky developers at Treyarch inserted a secret message into Black Ops, using two separate encryption methods to hide the code in each of the level's mission briefings. Didn't even know there was a code you should be cracking? That's alright: someone already figured it out. Check out what the message says after the jump.
YouTube user 01MaverickTen10 posted a video explanation of the code that makes him sound like a straight-up crazy person, but the message is actually pretty intriguing. You can watch his video below, but the main gist is that there are two messages in the mission briefing. The first code uses the designate word of each mission, which is always one of the terms from the NATO alphabet (Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, etc.). The second half of the message comes from each mission's transmission code, which gets converted to its corresponding letter in the alphabet. So what does the message say? Skip the next sentence if you can't handle the truth! Spoiler Alert: "Reznov is dead. Or is he dead? There was no body. Is he who he says he is?" I haven't even played Black Ops yet, and my mind is officially blown! Check out the video below for more information on how to find the message yourself. Russell. Wahlberg would be Uncharted hero Nathan Drake. "DeNiro would be my father."
Wahlberg told MTV News' Josh Horowitz that Russell's script, as rumored, is being written with roles for the classic Goodfellas/Raging Bull duo Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci. Russell's people have been in touch with "Bob," Wahlberg says, and he's personally talked to Pesci, who would play Nathan Drake's uncle. "The idea of it is so off the charts," Wahlberg said, failing to say if his pun was intentional.
Nathan Drake's dad and uncle are not characters in the Uncharted games — though the mentor character Sully is who maybe could be an uncle or dad kind of guy. Then again, one doubts Nathan Drake will die 45 times and have to wait for a PlayStation 3 firmware update in his movie. Cinema is not video games. Mark Wahlberg Confirms Starring Role in 'Uncharted' Movie [MTV Multiplayer] [Kotaku] As promised last week, Walmart’s VUDU service has launched on PS3. According to the post over on the US PS Blog: “VUDU delivers a cinema-quality movie experience in the comfort of your home theater, complete with full 1080p HD with 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus sound, and video on-demand without downloading. No subscription is necessary to browse their library of more than 4,000 HD movies, including many new releases the same day they are released to DVD and Blu-ray. The movies are available on-demand and you only pay for the movies that you watch. Also, when you sign up for a VUDU account, you will receive a $5.99 credit on your account for one free HD rental.” To download VUDU, go to the media category in the PlayStation Store, download the app, and after it is finished it will appear under the video icon in your XMB. . VUDU 2.0 was recently revealed at a press event, so if you download the app, it will automatically refresh on your PS3 when it launches next month. The newest version will also support Move for motion control navigation. The service joins Netflix, Hulu Plus, MLB.tv and NHL GameCenter Live which are already available on PSN. [Source: VG247] It's happening. After long speculation, alot of lies and rumors, many years and stress Bethesda is in production of the direct sequel from IV. Its real.
It took 4 years to create Oblivion. My guess is that Bethesda has already been working on TESV secretly for awhile. This is a list of what ThePauseMenu wants in TESV. Wishes: -Bethesda NEEDS to improve thier gaming engine. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are two of the greatest RPG games ever made but they have thier share of bugs, glitches, and annoying broken peices of code. Whether it be flailing ragdoll physics, getting stuck in a rock in the wasteland, or mission objectives being ruined by some wierd act of death upon a crucial character. Bethesda needs to upgrade and use the massive amount of money they have to create a massiveengine to hold this new tale. -TESV NEEDS to remain an RPG first and foremost. Too many RPGs are cutting corners and jumping the fence into new genres and trying to gain new fans by playing both sides. Bethesda doesn't need to divert from thier roots; Oblivion was a fantastic adventure that deserved the title of GameOfTheYear. Character creation and progression is so important to this companys success and it's why Oblivion and Fallout 3 were so popular. -Character Customization NEEDs More Options. Games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion lacked in this area. Not enough options to choose from when you're making your character and little to no change through the course of the game. TESV NEEDS to be able to always allow you to customize your armor, weapons, horses, houses, etc with a wide range of colours, enchantments, and frills of all kinds. Not to mention the limited array of hairstyles and facial structures available. It may be over-the-top but when I get into an RPG I want to enjoy what my character looks like. -Duel-Wielding Would be nice but it's not NEEDED. Two many fans of Two-Worlds downed Oblivion for not allowing players to wield two axes or a longsword and a short blade together. I for one didn't see the reason for arguement. If TESV includes this feature I'd like to see a good counter-balance feature. If your player is particulary good in axe combat and attempts to wield another axe without the right amount of skill the player should have a penalty on his attack and defense. Its only fair; a game in GODMODE isn't as satisfying as a normal play through. -Increase in Map Size Oblivion measured 16 square miles. Now thats quite a bit of world when all you have is your feet and your trusty steed, BUT It can be bigger. The Elder Scrolls: Dagger Fall for the PC was over 62,000 square miles. THAT IS MASSIVE. Its not a matter of who has the bigger boat its about longevity. If a game has a large area and a mission set that can keep the player interested, hooked, and addicted so they'll never be bored. They wont have to reappear in the same merchant town over and over to sell the same merchandise to the same people. It becomes mundane, and that is bad for a video game and even worse for an RPG. Having a buddy at your side makes all the difference, doubly so when your wingman is a character who can carry a scene on his or her own. The five people, aliens, robots, rodents and pigs on this list are the best companions we've seen in the last decade of gaming. 5. Daxter (Jak & Daxter series) Sometimes you have to give props for execution, even if it's in service to a trope we've all seen a million times. Daxter is a tough-talking wiseguy whose mouth is constantly writing checks his behind can't cash. He's also a unwaveringly loyal, devoted companion to Jak through thick and thin – and a good thing, too, because Daxter carries about 90 percent of the duo's personality in his furry little hide. Much of what elevates the series above the huge herd of 3D platformers of its time is the story. In turn, the story depends heavily both on Daxter's antics to keep things fresh and his emotional reactions to the sometimes-bleak situations in which he and Jak find themselves. Without Daxter, Jak may as well have been Blinx the Time Sweeper. {posted by Will} It’s been over 16 years since Nintendo made its way out to Las Vegas for the annual Consumer Electronics Show, but this year the company is gracing everyone with its presence. Before its long absence, Nintendo had a history of rolling out new technology for CES. In 1994, the company showed off a prototype of what would become the N64. However, for the last 16 years Nintendo has steered clear of the world’s largest consumer technology conference. With the 3DS release on the horizon, the new handheld is expected to be at the show in full force. Perhaps Nintendo will have a special announcement or two, but we’ll have to wait until the week of January 6th to find out. {Source: GameInformer} My Thoughts: Hopefully, we'll get some more info on the 3DS! {posted by Will} I just posted a story about Microsoft's solid Black Friday deals a couple of hours ago, but PS3 and PSP owners shouldn't feel left out. Sony is going to be giving up some similarly enticing price cuts for the holiday. Topping the list are some PSP offerings: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Dante's Inferno for a mere $19.99. Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake will be available for only $9.99, and Groovin' Blocks will be on sale for $4.99. Keep in mind that these are for the PlayStation Network downloadable versions of these titles; retail prices may not match these cuts. In terms of regular PSN titles, Joe Danger, DeathSpank, Gundemonium Collection, and Top Gun will all have their normal $14.99 price tags cut in half to $7.49. PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap will also be available at half-price -- $3.49. Finally, even the already cheap PlayStation Minis will be getting reduced pricing. Field Runners will drop to $3.49, Monopoly, Hero of Sparta, and Young Thor will hang out at $2.49, and Alien Zombie Death will be a paltry $1.99. This sale will begin tomorrow, November 23, and all the prices listed should be available until next Monday, November 29. Personally, I'm going to take this opportunity to finally pick up Joe Danger, since I somehow missed out on it this summer. What are you going to check out? {Source: GameInformer} Surprise. Kotaku is reporting that Uncharted 3 will finally get its much-antcipated debut at the Spike Video Game Awards on December 11. This may add more wood to the fire we’re going to see a full blow-out of the game at an event from Sony the day after the VGAs on December 12. The last Uncharted title, Among Thieves, was first shown at the 2008 VGAs. Kotaku also claims that some select press have already seen U3. Guess we’ll find out in a couple of weeks. The last time we heard anything about a third game in the series was last month, when Middle Eastern-based media firm Rubicon Holding was quoted as saying “the third instalment in the Uncharted series” is in development during an interview with The National. Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North has already said it’d be “common sense” to assume there will be a U3. Among Thieves did pretty well in sales and was critically hailed as one of the best games of last year, ending up with a 96 on Meta. [Source: VG247] |
