There are a lot of movies being made. So many in-fact that most publishers hire certain analysts to record demographic traits and pay close attention to popularity and trends to release at the best and most opportune
time.
I was curious how much money was actually being thrown at these projects so did a little bit of research and math. All of this data is according to todays date of 07/15/2012.
Now with "The Avengers" accumulating more than $1,457,648,000 it has become one the highest grossing films ever. It's budget was close to $200 million. An average budget for a film nowadays is around $150 million. So what I did was take the slated movies from Wikipedia, multiplied the total by $150M, and came up with a yearly cost to make films. If money fascinates you just think for a moment; these totals are estimated, but the profit is unaccounted for. If The Avengers made over NINE TIMES its budget just imagine what huge films like
The Hobbit, Pacific Rim, Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Wolverine can make.
207 films of 2012
$310,050,000,000
85 films of 2013
$12,750,000,000
19 films of 2014
$2,850,000,000
3 films of 2015
$450,000,000
That's a grand total of $326,100,000,000 spent on film budget. Three Hundred Twenty Six Billion One Hundred Million Dollars.
