EA CFO Eric Brown, speaking at the Citi 2011 Tech Conference today, mentioned the impressive number for DICE's upcoming military juggernaut. According to Brown, BF 3's prospects are even better than its predecessor, Bad Company 2. "To date we have about 1.25 million preorders on Battlefield 3, so it's still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, in regards to preorders in the same number of weeks till launch. So it's doing very well," Brown said.

At The Disco, Coheed and Cambria, and Daughtry are coming together to produce an eclectic mix of music inspired by the Caped Crusader. We're sure that Batman: Arkham City will continue the cool in-game atmospheric music that was so successful last time around, but a second musical project beyond the soundtrack promises to be quite different. Batman: Arkham City -- The Album is a brand new selection of 12 musical tracks by some current big musical artists. Each of the songs on the album is inspired by Batman in one way or another. The album will release on October 4th, in advance of the October 18th release of Batman: Arkham City. The collector's edition of the game will include a full download code for the album, including one extra track. “I write in a very conceptual format with the stories that surround Coheed and Cambria, but Batman has a much larger, defined history and rules that go along with it," said Coheed and Cambria's Claudio Sanchez regarding the band's song on the album. " My goal was to find universal themes from Batman’s existing history to help give the lyrics legs and dimension so that the song could live within that world.” Check out the full track list: 1. Panic! At The Disco - Mercenary 2. Coheed and Cambria - Deranged 3. The Duke Spirit - Creature 4. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Shadow On The Run 5. Blaqk Audio - Afterdark 6. Serj Tankian - Total Paranoia In addition, the collector's edition version will include: 12. A Place to Bury Strangers - In The Shadow {GameInformer} Are you excited about Skyrim's collector's edition? Have you cleared a spot for the dragon statuette on your shelf? Bethesda has released some pictures that might temper your enthusiasm. Behold, the Dragonborn statue. The statue, as shown on the company's Facebook page, features the horned character wielding a big ol' sword. Before you get too excited, you should know that these bad boys aren't for sale. They'll be shipped to retailers worldwide, where they can be climbed on, rubbed, and adorned with wacky hats. Don't give up hope entirely, though. It would be surprising if Bethesda didn't reserve one of these things for a community contest of some sort or another. But we've been surprised before. We've heard plenty of buzz about PlayStation-certified Android phones being released, but did you know that Sony also has a couple of tablets coming out with similar certification? Sony has confirmed that Tablet S and Tablet P are releasing this year. Joystiq reports that Tablet S, a traditional one-screen tablet available in 16GB or 32GB models will be out in September for prices beginning at $499. The much stranger Tablet P is coming a bit later in the year -- November in Europe and an as-yet-undisclosed date in North America. As pictured above, this one has two screens hinged together, looking sort of like a larger, wider Nintendo DS. Despite the screen difference, both devices will have similarly powerful hardware, run on Android, and come pre-loaded with PS1 titles Pinball Heroes and Crash Bandicoot. In addition to Android Marketplace support, the PlayStation certification ensures that more PS1 titles will be available to download and play on the devices in the future. On the Tablet P, the controls will be pushed to the bottom screen, which actually seems like it could be a more elegant solution than cramming them onto the screen itself. For a more technical hands-on, Engadget has all the specs for the two tablets as well as a video walkthrough. Do you have any interest in playing PS1 games on your tablet or would you rather stick to an iPad? {GameInformer} Do you need to brush up on your Uncharted history before the third installment from Naughty Dog hits in November? Sony's got you covered with the Uncharted Dual Pack. Unsurprisingly, the package contains dual games: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It will also include a voucher for all of the downloadable content from the second entry's Game of the Year edition. Best of all, the whole thing only costs $40 and comes out next Tuesday. You might have to clear your calendar next week for some last-minute treasure hunting. {GameInformer} If you're a fan of the Persona franchise, you'll be happy to hear what Atlus has to say about a new handheld port, a 2D fighting game, and the next numbered entry in the series. First, Persona 4 is on its way to PlayStation Vita in a new form called Persona 4 The Golden. It features additional content like a new character, more voice acting, and new animated sequences. It is set to release in Japan next summer, but no North American plans were revealed. In a stranger development, a Persona-themed fighting game (including characters from 3 and 4) is also on the way. It is being made by Arc System Works, the studio responsible for the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear fighting games. Lastly, development on Persona 5 is reportedly underway. Preliminary development is complete, according to producer Katsura Hashino. The staff is now getting ready to begin the actual development process. Big news day for all of us Persona fans! {GameInformer} NOTE: The photo featured here is a screenshot from the Vita port. |
