Back in February, Bethesda provided fans with a Skyrim challenge: have a baby on 11-11-11, name him or her Dovahkiin, and the studio would give the parents free Bethesda games for life. Today, it was announced that Megan and Eric Kellermeyer met the challenge when Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer was born on Friday at 6:08pm PST. How nerdily-awesome is that? Congratulations to the happy couple, as we really hope the little Dragonborn isn’t teased too much growing up. {VG247} Will here. Can I just say, it's gonna be hard as BALLS for this kid to learn how to write his own name!

Bethesda’s announced it’s sold 3.5 million units of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the game’s opening 48 hours on sale. The sales number wasn’t mentioned in the press release, but it does say that “more than 50% of launch units were sold in the first 48 hours.” Over 280,000 concurrent players were playing it on Steam within its first 24 hours, far more than any other game on the service. “Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever,” said Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard. “After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.” Robert Altman, CEO of ZeniMax Media added: “Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.” {VG247} Mojang’s announced it’ll released the iOS version of Minecraft tomorrow. Known as the Pocket Edition, it’ll be priced at $10, with iOS and Android users able to mix together online, according to the company. The game had previously launched for Android as an Xperia Play exclusive back in August. It came to other Android-enabled devices in September. The full PC version launches on Friday. Thanks, Develop. {VG247} Activision claims to have sold 6.5 million copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 24 hours, making it the most successful entertainment launch of anything, ever. The game took $400 million in sales in one day, according to ChartTrack estimates, beating Black Ops by $40 million and Modern Warfare 2 by $90 million. Both those games set the previous records for day-one sales. This is only two territories, remember - European, Australian and rest of world sales aren't even taken into account. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick claims that "Life-to-date sales for the Call of Duty franchise exceed worldwide theatrical box office for "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings," two of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time." Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has done well critically, picking up a score of 9.0 from us and great scores from many other outlets, but has suffered a fan backlash that's seen its Metacritic user score drop as low as 1.7 over the past few days. {IGN} According to several posts on Batman: Arkham City's official forums, users are experiencing a bug that causes their Xbox 360 save files to be deleted without warning. In an ongoing thread, many users report dozens of hours of progress lost thanks to the bug. The problem appears to be specific to the Xbox 360 version of the game, and reports range from six hours of progress lost to save files that were 80% complete. Some users have speculated that the problem may be related to the Catwoman DLC pack, though that hasn't been confirmed. These reports are unverified for now, though an increasing number of them have continued to appear since the game's launch in October. We've reached out to Warner Bros. and will update this story with any comment we receive. {IGN} God of War IV's release date may have been outed. New Zealand retailer MightyApe has listed the game with an estimated release date of September 28, 2012. A job listing previously suggested that the game may be in development, and this listing only adds fuel to the fire. For now, Sony hasn't confirmed that the game is in development and the release date is only a rumor. {IGN} For a brief amount of time, we thought Nintendo's special Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS bundle would go the way of Xenoblade and The Last Story, never to see the light of day in North America. That might not be the case after all. A leaked GameStop ad for Black Friday features not only a Flame Red 3DS bundle that comes with Super Mario 3D Land, but highlights the newly announced Zelda version of the 3DS as well. Featuring a gold and black Hylian design, the bundle will also come with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The special edition 3DS will be priced at $199.99 or as little as $99.99 if you're willing to trade in old DS systems. Nintendo has yet to officially confirm these plans, but if GameStop has a full ad ready to go, it does seem a bit likely. We'll let you know when the press releases catch up with the ads. {IGN} In its press release detailing the banner sales of Modern Warfare 3, Activision also announced that it had donated $3 million to the Call of Duty Endowment which supports American servicemen and women, by providing job placement and training services for veterans. The monetary amount was added to the $2 million already donated by the firm to the Endowment, which has provided “more than $1.5 million in grants and scholarships to veterans’ organizations across the country” since CEO Bobby Kotick started the non-profit in November 2009. {VG247} The official sales in the video game market for the month of October has been released by the NPD (National Purchase Diary).
