At his Gamescom keynote speech, Activision publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg says that the trash-talking between his company and Electronic Arts over Call of Duty and Battlefield, respectively, is bad for the industry. "Competition is of course a good thing. It keeps us all on our toes and ultimately makes the games better. It's healthy," said Hirshberg according to Eurogamer. "But it's one thing to want your game to succeed and another thing to actively, publicly say you want other games to fail." Activision and Electronic Arts – particularly Activision's Bobby Kotick and EA CEO John Riccitiello – have engaged in a public feud over which game will come out on top this holiday season. {GameInformer} As if November wasn't expensive enough for myself and fellow gamers, Nintendo announced today the official release date of the long anticipated Wii title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The release date is November 20th, 2011. So, just in November, we have five triple A titles being released. Uncharted 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, Skyward Sword, and Super Mario 3D Land. So if I am to somehow steal, uh, I mean work for, enough money to buy all these games, I would need exactly (including NC's 8.25% tax) $292.22. Well, it's a damn good thing Christmas isn't too far away! Haha! Voting for the Cover Girl of Mass Effect 3 has gone to round 2! The fans' voice in the default appearance of female Commander Shepard has advanced to the next stage…hair color!
Yes that's right, after the internet got mad at the "white" shepard that was chosen now its onto finding out what color hair she'll win the intergalactic war with. I voted for Blonde and Red. GO HERE TO VOTE on Mass Effect 3's FaceBook Today, Sony announced Festival of Blood, the first (non-user created) DLC for Infamous 2. In it, we'll watch in horror as Cole MacGrath gets bitten by a vampire. To save his soul, and the city of New Marais, he'll have one eventful night to kill the leader of the vampire clan that's invaded the city. Sounds like a bloody good time. Trailer for this DLC can be viewed here. {GameInformer} Nintendo announced today that a new model of the Wii will be released in Europe. This new model will be in the Family Edition bundle, which comes with two games, Wii Sports and Wii Party, a Wii MotionPlus Controller, and a nunchuck. This new model of the Wii is designed to be placed horizontally, as opposed to the tradition vertical placement of the past models. This new model will not feature Gamecube backwards compatibility, making it cheaper than the previous models. Nintendo has not yet confirmed a price or release date, but they did say that it will be out in time for the holidays and more Family Edition bundles will be released later. No word if these must have, insanely superior, drool provoking (sarcasm intended) Wii bundles will be released outside of Europe. Seems like a move to squeeze out the last bit of cash from the Wii before the Wii U comes onto the scene. Suda51 isn’t known for subtlety, but Lollipop Chainsaw seems excessive even by his own standards. The game stars Juliet Starling, an 18-year-old cheerleader and queen bee at San Romero High. When the school is attacked by zombies, she grabs her trusty chainsaw and fights back to save her classmates. Her boyfriend Nick accompanies her, or at least he kind of does. He’s a severed head who just happens to still be alive. {GameInformer} While the vault hunters of the first Borderlands may not have featured much in the way of narration, it definitely mattered which of them you picked. Each class came with a different play-style and skill tree, from the proficient sniper Mordecai to the heavy weaponry and brutal melee attacks of Brick. Borderlands 2 will place players in the shoes of four new characters, and Gearbox revealed one of them to us during our recent cover trip. Salvador belongs to the new Gunzerker class, and all signs point to him being a versatile and entertaining character selection. Read on to see what you can expect from this new addition to the franchise. {GameInformer} |
