Viacom is planning to sell the company behind Rock Band, Kinect's Dance Central and the original Guitar Hero. Viacom didn't explain why they want to sell off Harmonix, but its probably because of decreasing sales, but also what seems to be a distinct drop off in interest in the instruments-required rhythm games.

Harmonix is a free-agent now and there is no word on who will pick them up, but since the developer has an on-going publishing deal with Electronic Arts, the second largest game maker in the world, that seems like a distinct possibility.
