This prison-based film is set in an unknown location and follows five inmates and thier plan to escape. "The Escapist" is quick to introduce the flashback to its screenplay but the technique is done well to keep the audience's attention and to progress the story. And I must say now; watch this all the way to the end. The final scenes complete the movie and are worth giving this film 3 stars.
As in most prison films "The Escapist" has a homosexual undertone and some scenes that might make some certain people look away. Fear not though, nothing is shown, and nothing is really said. The cast fills the roles seemlessly and without much dialogue the film moves quite quickly. The plot escalates with action rather than words, which adds the suspension.
"The Escapist" gets 3/5 stars.
Its a one-time watch that has a great ending.
