The true story of Danny Greene, a tough Irish thug working for mobsters in Cleveland during the 1970's.
Director: Jonathan Hensleigh
Writers: Jonathan Hensleigh (screenplay), Jeremy Walters(screenplay)
Stars: Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Vincent D'Onofrio
The "Chameleon", Ray Stevenson shows off, yet again, his acting talents and his diversity in his roles. Daniel Greene is a respectable figure in Cleveland's history fighting hand-to-hand and bomb-to-bomb with the Mob. You could say he has balls of steel. The supporting cast is as notable as the Irish accents. Christopher Walken and Vincent D'Onofio round out the main cast alongside Val Kilmer.
The story, action, and emotion make you suffer alongside Danny Greene's journey into the belly of the beast as he starts a war with the mafia and Cleveland is the battleground. As cliche' as it sounds most of the faces and actors that make up the mafia have been type-casted as such villainy so i'm sure you'll recognize one or all. The film grows boring around the middle but picks up every time Ray Stevenson's character gets mad or insulted. It's hard to build a film off of real events but this cinematic biography paints an entertaining and destructive picture.
I give Kill the Irishman 4/5 stars.
