It's the first day of December, and people across the globe are preparing themselves for holiday festivities. Why not get yourself in the spirit of the season with a few selections from today's PSN update, like Dead Nation? Oh, no, wait. That won't do. What about that demo for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Fatal Conspiracy? Hm, that's not particularly cheerful either, is it? How about you blow up some more dudes in new in interesting ways with that Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage DLC? This ... this is going to be a weird month.

Perhaps you'd just like to visit your own brand of global domination on your real-life hometown of Duluth, Minnesota? Whatever your motivation, you can now add the Americas, along with Asia, Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean, to your stomping grounds with the "Cradle of Civilization" map pack, now available on Steam. The four new maps can be added for $2.99 apiece or as a single bundle for $9.99 to the PC version of the game. Or, you could hold off and finish your campaign to conquer the entirety of Greece. Sorry, Napoleon -- no dessert until you finish your supper, young man. [Source: Joystiq] Fans of fictional, war-covering photojournalists rejoice, for Capcom has announced that the Xbox exclusive Dead Rising 2: Case West is slated to arrive "next month." As of this writing, it's just barely still November, so it would seem Frank West will return to Dead Rising in time for Christmas. In-game photography will also be making a comeback; presumably, nabbing erotic photos should be much easier this time around. Unfortunately, Capcom still hasn't announced a price. For now, you'll just have to settle for the new screens in the gallery below. [Source: Joystiq] Fallout: New Vegas senior designer Chris Avellone has been talking DLC Dead Money, which will be released December 21. Speaking in the latest Bethedsa newsletter, Avellone gave some previously unknown details on the new content, such as how the setting is Sierra Madre, a city frozen in time ever since its state of the art security system locked the place up tight, meaning nothing could get in and none of the guests could get out. A mysterious group called the Ghost People is the player’s adversary, as are the casino’s substantial defense systems. There’s a few more bits of juicy information too; here’s what Avellone had to say: Click Read More > Fallout: New Vegas “Dead Money”is released exclusively on Xbox 360 for 800 MS Points on December 21. [Source: VG247] R.U.S.E. has some DLC poised for a December release, and it’s chock full of nuclear cannons. According to the game’s official web site, the Manhattan Project Pack is set for a free release next month on Steam. It has three new maps set in Holland, Italy and North Africa for 2v2 and 3v3 team battles. Two new gameplay modes are also included: Total War set in 1939 with history advancing every 10 minutes with new units and tech unlocked at a fast pace, and Nuclear War which has players building Long Tom cannons with nukes as ammunition. All sounds rather cool for R.U.S.E. players. Hit up the official site for more. [Source: VG247] The Xbox 360 version of Fallout: New Vegas is getting a new mission pack on Dec. 21 called Dead Money, Bethesda said today. The 800 Microsoft point pack has players working alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. The download add-on includes new terrain, foes and choices, according to the Bethesda Softworks press release. "We're pleased to give fans a chance to expand their experience in Fallout: New Vegas this December with Dead Money," said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. "The release of Dead Money illustrates our commitment to creating entertaining add-on content for players to enjoy in already massive games like Fallout: New Vegas." [source: kotaku] The world of Avalon expands on November 23 with the Understone Quest Pack, adding an entire new town for you to explore, while the Exclusive Hair Pack adds afros, corn rows, asymmetrical bobs, and a dog buff. That's right, for 160 Microsoft points come November 23, you can sport a lovely afro, rock the corn rows, or do whatever it is people do with an asymmetrical bob. The Exclusive Hair Pack adds all of these, along with a little sumpthin'-sumpthin' (a potion) to grant your dog five stars across all abilities without having to train. Once you've got your corn rows and your super dog, you can head on down to Understone with the 400 Microsoft point Understone Quest Pack. Built by eccentric inventor Montague Hummes under the streets of Bowerstone, Understone is a full-sized town with plenty of property to purchase, stalls to frequent, and strangers to have sex with. But all is not well in Understone. Otherwise it would be a pretty boring update. There's a voice controlling the people of the town, and it's up to the player to figure out who or what it is, with a mor4al decision to be made that will decide the fate of the underground community. The pack also transforms Saker's bandit camp into a tourist attraction, complete with shooting gallery mini-game, and opens up Reaver's Wheel of Misfortune to curious or stupid adventurers, with new prizes to be won. Look for both new packs to hit Xbox Live on November 23 [Kotaku] Sony has gone to great lengths to convince gamers that the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is the one to get. First came the E3 reveal during Sony's press conference. Then, the PlayStation Network multiplayer beta. Now, one more piece of the co-opted marketing puzzle has been revealed: new DLC that will be free and exclusive to the PS3 version of the game. Entitled "Copernicus Conspiracy," this single-player add-on will have Ezio performing a variety of courier, protection and assassination missions in a story that has Nicolaus Copernicus as a target for his dangerous heliocentric belief -- that the world revolves around the sun, and not the other way around. Like Mafia 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum before it, the add-on will be available at launch as a separate download. Considering Blu-ray's copious storage capacity, we're not entirely sure why it can't be included on the disc, but we doubt PS3 owners will complain about getting a meaty extra for free.
Bethesda believes that Fallout: New Vegas will continue to sell for a long time thanks to a two-pronged attack of PR and DLC.
Euro marketing and PR director Sarah Seaby cited Fallout 3 as a standard when talking about New Vegas sales. "We believe that through a combination of DLC, our strong marketing and PR and by managing our lifecycle properly, that we'll see a long burn of sales in a similar way to Fallout 3," she told MCV.
