After much speculation over who would lead Spike Lee‘s adaptation of the gritty revenge thriller, Josh Brolin has been officially confirmed for the role, with Christian Bale still considering the villain role after he finishes The Dark Knight Rises.
It has already been confirmed that Spike Lee's adaptation will not hold true to the original story and said spoilers, just watch the film; you'll know what i mean. The tale will just be a straight revenge thriller.
After originally being backed by Dreamworks with Steven Spielberg directing and Will Smith starring, the film has now fallen into the hands of Vertigo Entertainment, Mandate Pictures and Lee’s 40 Acres and A Mule with a screenplay by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Thor).
In an odd piece of rumor news Christian Bale, coming off his Oscar win for The Fighter, can choose almost any role he wants. It's rumored he's eyeing Spike Lee directed remake of Old Boy.
According to other rumored reports Josh Brolin is aiming to take the lead role as Oh Dae-su. That would put Christian Bale across from John Brolin.
