What does the title mean? In CIA parlance, the term "ghost" can refer to some of the suspected terrorists held at Guantamo Bay and other secret bases around the world. Could the plot involve Ethan Hunt and his team being assigned to hunt down an escaped "ghost?" Just speculating.
The 4th entry will be titled Mission:Impossible Ghost Protocol. The name was announced at a press conference in Dubai attended by Tom Cruise, director Brad Bird and co-stars Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton. It’s in production now and is scheduled for release in December 2011. Besides the Dubai location, other shooting spots include Moscow and Prague.

The Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios announced they have reached an agreement under which Paramount will transfer its worldwide marketing and distribution rights to Disney for Marvel Studios' The Avengers and Iron Man 3. Paramount will remain the worldwide distributor of the upcoming films, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, as well as the previously released Iron Man and Iron Man 2.Under terms of the new deal, Disney will pay Paramount $115 million for the transfer of the distribution rights to Iron Man 3 and The Avengers to be paid on the theatrical release dates.
These monies will serve as a minimum guarantee against the distribution fees."In completing this agreement, Disney will now assume worldwide marketing and distribution of 'The Avengers' and 'Iron Man 3' and leverage these two highly-anticipated films across the multiple global platforms of The Walt Disney Company," said Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. "We appreciate the tremendous momentum that Paramount established with these iconic Marvel characters and look forward to propelling the brand even further in the coming years.""Five years ago, when Paramount and Marvel made our initial deal, both our businesses were in very different places," said Brad Grey, Chairman & CEO of Paramount Pictures. "We are grateful for the partnership we have had with the terrific Marvel team over these years and proud of the work we have done together. Today, this new agreement is the right deal for Paramount, for Marvel and for Disney. We look forward to working together on 'Thor' and 'Captain America,' and we wish Disney and Marvel the utmost success, in what we know will be a very productive and wide-ranging partnership.""Paramount has been a wonderful partner in helping Marvel Studios bring our characters to the big screen," said Alan Fine, Office of the President, Marvel Worldwide, Inc. "This agreement makes sense now that Marvel is part of The Walt Disney Company."Paramount will release Marvel Entertainment's Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger worldwide beginning on May 6 and July 22 of 2011, respectively. The Avengers will be licensed to Epix under Paramount's existing pay television arrangement. Disney is planning a May 3, 2013 release date for Iron Man 3. Microsoft has issued its earnings report for Q1 of its fiscal year 2011, and things are looking good for its gaming division. The company reported revenue of $16.20 billion for the period, which ended on September 30. This amounts to a 25 percent increase over Q1 FY 2010 overall.
When it comes to Xbox 360, the console was cited as a top performer, alongside Windows 7 and Office 2010. In fact, Microsoft reports that sales are up 38 percent overall, compared with the same quarter last year, "outselling every competing console in the U.S. for each of the past four months," it gloats. Diving into the numbers, Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division (home to Xbox, Zune, and Windows Phone 7) benefited from a 33 percent rise in revenue from Xbox 360 sales over Q1 FY 2010, to the tune of $409 million. Shipments of the console to retailers totaled 2.8 million units for the quarter, up from 2.1 million during the same period last year. Revenue from software sales also increased, bolstered by (what else?) Halo: Reach. The Bungie title generated a whopping $350 million for Microsoft in the quarter -- a number made more impressive by the fact that, having launched September 14, that revenue resulted from only 17 days of the game's sales. No wonder Microsoft is considering releasing Halo games on a more frequent basis.
Here's a glimpse at the multiplayer map select and killstreak screens of upcoming shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops. While McWhertor detailed the killstreaks for Black Ops back in September, I think this is the first time we've seen what our source tells us is the full multiplayer map list
Halloween has come to Team Fortress 2! And so has the game's first boss monster, the axe-wielding, jack o' lantern behatted Horseless Headless Horsemann. It's all part of Valve's second annual TF2 Halloween special. The latest update for the oft-updated Team Fortress 2 adds an all-new map, the spooky Mann Manor, as well as a quartet of new, potentially heart attack-inducing achievements. Even more frightening? The Halloween-themed achievements made available during last year's Halloween update are now achievable once more!
(Update: There's another new map in this update, Mountain Lab! Both new maps come from TF2Maps.net's Art Pass contest.) Also new are fresh community made and Valve made items in the Mann Co. Store, some of which are only available while the TF2 Halloween special update is live. That's from today until November 8, by the way. If you're at least this tall and don't suffer from a pre-existing heart condition, it's recommended that you start playing some Team Fortress 2 now. If you dare, of course. Team Fortress 2 - Halloween Special [Team Fortress - thanks, gregfromtheinternet!] A 22 year-old woman from Jacksonsville, Florida has pleaded guilty to killing her baby son over a game of...Farmville. Alexandra V. Tobias says her three-month old child, Dylan Lee Edmondson, had been crying while she was trying to play the popular Facebook casual game. This angered Tobias, who told authorities that she shook the baby, had a cigarette to calm herself down, then shook him again. It's believed he "may have hit his head during the shaking". Dylan's death was classified as second-degree murder, a charge that carries the possibility of a life sentence in prison. Jacksonville mom who shook baby for interrupting computer game pleads to murder [Florida Times-Union] Gearbox Software has posted an update on its forums, addressing the continued absence of the latest Borderlands patch. Title Update 1.41 was meant to arrive around the October 12 launch of the first-person shooter's Game of the Year Edition, but will now launch "within a couple of weeks."
"The Title Update is finished and in the process of being reviewed for launch. We are almost green lit across the board for this free update to be launched, but we still need just one more light to turn green," wrote Gearbox marketing coordinator Adam Fletcher. "In other words – we're *almost* there! We expect that last light to turn green within a couple of weeks, possibly sooner. Once this happens, the Title Update will be made immediately available for all platforms." The patch will raise the level cap to 58 for all players, and up to 69 for those who have downloaded The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. The level cap has been the greatest source of frustration for players who have already hit the ceiling and don't want experience earned in Claptrap's New Robot Revolution going to waste. The update will also fix some Achievement/Trophy glitches, and adjust item drops and enemies according to the new level cap. Gearbox didn't elaborate on the reasons behind the delay, but talk of that "last" green light reminds us of a situation encountered by the makers of Monday Night Combat. According to Uber Entertainment's blog, their October title update was "caught up in a perfect storm of software changes and tons of new games coming out," and consequently became backlogged within Microsoft's certification process. To be fair, there are three platforms at play here, and we don't know whether Gearbox will insist on a simultaneous multiplatform release. This time, it will be Konami who's responsible for publishing Grasshopper Manufacture's high-res port of the Wii original. They'll do so in North America in 2011, when No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise comes to Sony's console—and not Microsoft's.
Ubisoft published the first two No More Heroes games in North America for the Wii, but passed on the opportunity to do so for the hi-def console port that hit Japan earlier this year. No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise Announced Exclusively for PS3 and PlayStation Move [PlayStation.blog] |
