Grab hold of your jaw before looking down at the new Bulletstorm screenshots below. It might fall off.
It's rare that a single batch of screenshots elevates our excitement of a game from 'whatever, whenever' to 'DO WANT', but that's what's just happened. Bulletstorm's looking incredible, even if a few of these shots do look almost too good to be real. We've see a couple of these before too, but hey, when they look this good you can't complain. Bulletstorm is a mental shooter from People Can Fly (with help from Epic's Cliff Bleszinski) that sees players rack up high scores by killing enemies in inventive and brutal ways called the Skillshot. And there's more strategy in the Skillshot than "95% of the shooters out there", according to PCF boss Adrian Chmielarz. [ Source: Destructoid ] More images of Sony's secret PlayStation Phone prototype have emerged. Tech site Engadget - who broke the story of the phone's existence - has now shown off a selection of new close-up images, which you can check out below. The site reckons that the PS Phone - which as expected comes in the form of a large screen with slide out controls - is likely to run on Android 3.0, also known as 'Gingerbread'.
The phone will supposedly feature a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen between 3.7 and 4.1 inches. Its latest report reiterates that the phone's protoype name is 'Zeus' and that it appears to have an 8GB microSD card slot. It also holds at least 512MB of internal storage. The site reports that the handset is around 17mm thick - around the same width as PSPgo. [ Source: Engadget ] Silicon Valley motion-sensing technology company Canesta has announced that it is being purchased by Microsoft, with the sale due to be finalized before the end of 2010. Canesta develops 3D sensing hardware not unlike that used in Kinect, which launches next week.
The company also develops software for working with 3D tracking data, which is where we'd most likely see the deal bear fruit in terms of gaming, specifically in the evolution of Kinect's software-driven capabilities. It's also possible that the acquisition -- at least in the short-term -- is a move to head off any potential claims that Microsoft may have infringed on Canesta's patents during the development of Kinect.
Warner's given F.E.A.R. 3 a March 22, 2011 release date.
That's a Tuesday, so we're hopeful we'll get it on Friday 25. The company also announced the following pre-order bonuses (via Joystiq), which are exclusive to three separate retailers. Amazon Exclusive to Amazon.com, The "F.E.A.R. 3" comic book is a 12-page story written by Steve Niles, illustrated by Stefano Raffaele and produced by DC Comics. Point Man has escaped an explosive blast he set in motion to eliminate Alma and is confronted with a brand new threat and a new escape mission. Best Buy Pre-order your copy of F.E.A.R. 3 from Best Buy and receive exclusive access to The Shredder, a sidearm specially developed by Armacham Technologies for their elite guard as an effective way to stop experimental super soldiers that have gone rouge. Decommissioned after failing to be effective against Prototype 1, The Shredder shoots heavy metal shot rounds mixed with nitrates like a fire breathing dragon in your hand. Perfect for knocking extremely fast targets, there's nothing better when you're between a rock and a hard place with multiple hostiles rapidly advancing. Gamestop Pre-order your copy of F.E.A.R. 3 at Gamestop and receive exclusive access to The Hammer, Fettel's original sidearm which was lost when he was killed by his brother, Point Man. A few less rounds per clip is an easy trade off for almost twice the damage! This sidearm will prove to be an able ally when playing multiplayer in F.E.A.R. 3. Earlier today, a spooky Halloween trailer for the game was released. [ Source: Joystiq ] Just like Nintendo's handheld games console, Sony's PlayStation Portable is doing it tough these days, sales of the machine down 50% from what they were at this time last year.
Sony handed in its Q2 2010 financial results today, and while the PlayStation 3 enjoyed a slight increase in sales over the three-month period that was Q2 2009 (3.5 million consoles sold, up from 3.2 million), the PSP tanked, going from three million last year to only 1.5 million sold over the same timeframe this year.
To put that in perspective, the PlayStation 2 sold as many units despite being over ten years old, and for 2010 as a whole has actually outsold the PSP by 100,000 units. Sounds like a PSP2 is just the thing the doctor ordered! Plus What will happen when the Playstation Phone Hits Shelves? [Source: Kotaku] |
