Well, we've got good news and bad news for folks who've long awaited the PC version ofBioShock 2's downloadable content. The good news? According to a few users on the game's official forum, the Protector Trials expansion was released on the Games for Windows Marketplace earlier this week for $5.75. The bad news? It ... um, doesn't work. Like, at all. It seems like the PC version of the game needs to be patched before the DLC will become compatible. A 2K representative confirmed on the forums, "wait till my word before you go grab it - it's not ready yet." [Joystiq] The latest game console travel case from manufacturer GAEMS -- yes, it's really spelled like that, we promise -- is an unarguably slicker offering than the company's previous products. The pack has room for a 360, 360 S or PS3 Slim console, all the requisite cords and power bricks, a couple of controllers, speakers and a built-in LED monitor -- yet, despite its contents, the GAEMS case isn't the size of a small houseboat. The case will be released sometime in June for $300 -- though you can knock $20 off the price by pre-ordering before April 20. [Joystiq] Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene (Stevenson) and the Italian mafia. Based on a true story, Kill the Irishman chronicles Greene's heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (D'Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Danny Greene's infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn't kill.
[ComingSoon.net] Sony and the PS3 hacking community have been engaged in a tug-of-war in recent months, ever since root access to the PlayStation 3 was gained. In addition to opening the door for unauthorized indie development on the console, that breakthrough allowed users to play pirated games and cheat online. Sony responded by threatening to ban players found to have modded their system in this way, which the company says amounts to a breach in the terms of use agreement. It appears as though that punishment is being bypassed as well, with users claiming to have found a way to circumvent and reverse such bans. According to Destructoid, hackers can now apparently unban themselves. Even more disturbing, those users can even ban other players, provided they have access to the victim's console ID. As one hacker said last month, "The complete console is compromised – there is no way back." And if you don't know this by now, don't give anyone access to your PS3's console ID. Seriously. [GameInformer] Earlier this week, casual gaming juggernaut Zynga received yet another outside investment of an undisclosed sum of money. A number of news outlets speculated on the aforementioned sum and what it's done to the company's bottom line -- for instance, the Wall Street Journal (via Develop) reported that the investment was worth $250 million, valuing the company at somewhere between $7 billion and $10 billion. All Things Digital says the investment was for $500 million, and claimed (alongside the New York Times) that the company is worth "nearly $10 billion." It was only two days ago that the world was hit with the overly popular trailer for Dead Island. Yesterday saw the release of some gruesome screenshots, and now today it was confirmed that a film adaptation will be made. The Producer is Sean Daniel Sean Daniel, who has been producing movies for twenty years, has a varied resume of projects including Dazed and Confused, Tombstone and Mallrats. Dead Island won’t be Daniel’s first foray into the horror genre, as he produced Village of the Damned, The Wolfman and The Mummy trilogy. Most of his career was spent with partner Jim Jacks in the production company, Alphaville. The purchase of Dead Island was acquired under the recently formed Sean Daniel Production Company. HERE's the Video Game SYNOPSISTerror. Violence. Madness. Bedlam. A holiday paradise gone mad. A tropical island turns into total chaos after a mysterious zombie outbreak. Cut off from the rest of the world, the player’s only chance to survive is to fight to the death and find a way to escape from the island. Deep Silver announced today that it will publish Dead Island, the upcoming gruesome zombie slasher by renowned developer Techland. Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode. Dead Island will be released worldwide for the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC later this year. [Collider] BioWare would like to reach a million downloads for its Dragon Age II Demo. If they do, players will get some extra goodies that could help players save the world. If a million people download EA’s Dragon Age II Demo (for either PC, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3) before March 1, then BioWare will unlock two in-game items for players to use. The first is a book called The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall, which gives players a little bit of extra spending cash. The second book, entitled Lothering's Lament, will deliver a healthy boost to a player’s experience. Please note that you will have to login to your EA account while playing the game for BioWare to keep a proper tally. Dragon Age II’s demo comes out February 22, so if you’re interested in helping with this noble venture go to the game’s official site to learn more. [GameInformer] TellTale Games were founded in 2004 and haven't made its mark on the public yet. Companies like Bethesda, Infinity Ward, and Blizzard are households names if you own a gaming console or computer. But since 2004 TellTale Games has only released low-level games and some that just never made it. The crew is talented with a few being from Lucas Arts. TellTale is unique in the world of gaming with the ability to release its own games. To not have to go through a publisher and the time it takes to finalize those situations. The studio is most known for their CSI games but they have a handful of upcoming firecrackers.
Keep your eye on TellTale on the upcoming years. I see a blockbuster coming their way in 2012/2013. Yesterday, Sony announced that it would soon be dropping permanent bans on all PlayStation 3 jailbreak users or those who have pirated software on their computers. The bans would permanently lock out the aforementioned offenders from the PlayStation Network, as well as Sony's Qriocity media network. Now, users of hacker site PS3Hax are reporting that Sony's banhammer is already dropping in Europe and the US. First, those running custom firmware or using pirated software receive the following e-mail: "A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation(R)3 system. Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your PlayStation(R)3 system. Failure to do so will result in termination of your access to the PlayStation(R)Network and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your PlayStation(R)3 system." If offenders do not reformat their hard drives and reinstall the official v3.56 PS3 firmware, they then receive this subsequent e-mail--which some have reportedly received with no warning at all: "Notice: Access to the PlayStation(R)Network and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your PlayStation (R)3 system has been terminated permanently due to the use of unauthorized circumvention devices and unauthorized or pirated software on your PlayStation(R)3 system. This use violates the terms of both the "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation(R)3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation(R)Network/Qriocity(TM) and its Community Code of Conduct provision." Those so banned will then receive error code 8002A227 telling them "You cannot use PlayStation Network with this account" and see the pictured screen (above) when trying to log into PSN. |
